Tom Butler is Of Counsel to Greenbridge Corporate Counsel and Partner at Silicon Counsel, LLP.  Tom's practice focuses on corporate finance and securities, complex commercial agreements, mergers & acquisitions, and general corporate matters. His work includes entity formation and capital structure, venture capital and angel financings, employee and consultant arrangements, equity incentive plans, and technology licensing and service agreements.  

Tom regularly serves as outside general counsel to start-ups and emerging growth companies, blending strategic guidance with legal advice on a range of corporate and commercial matters and transactions.

Tom began his legal career in 1997 with Luce Forward (now part of McKenna Long), where he advised public and private companies with regard to mergers & acquisitions and a range of capital raising activities from venture capital financing to initial public offering. He later served as General Counsel of NOVO MediaGroup, a technology development and marketing firm that worked with Fortune 500 clients such as General Motors, Continental Airlines, and Procter & Gamble. During Tom’s tenure, NOVO had annual revenues of over $30 million, with over 200 employees in San Francisco and New York. Tom created NOVO’s legal department and was responsible for all of the company’s legal affairs, including with respect to multi-million dollar client contracts, strategic partnerships, employment law matters, business disputes and the successful sale of the company to Publicis Groupe.
